Deadline to file your Application for Degree at the Registrar's office or via my.nmsu.edu.

*You must complete the Application for Degree for the semester you are planning to graduate. You will need to reapply for degree if you applied in a previous semester, but did not graduate. Your degree cannot be certified if you fail to apply for degree during the semester you are planning to graduate.

July 16

Deadline to submit dissertation titles to the Graduate School in order to participate in commencement ceremony.

*This is for doctoral degrees only. There is not a submission of title that is used in the commencement program for Master's thesis students.

July 3

Thesis, Dissertation, or Professional Doctorate Exam Form: Deadline to turn in the Final Exam Form.

*Do not wait until the deadline to complete this form. Please note that this is the last day to submit the form for the last possible day to hold your exam this semester. When planning to hold your exam, you must submit your exam form at least 10 business days before your exam is held to the Graduate School for processing. The Graduate School will then send out your exam paperwork to your committee. This form needs departmental signatures and takes time to complete before you submit it. If this form is not submitted on time, you may need to reschedule your exam and your degree may be certified in a later semester.   

July 11

Deadline to hold a thesis, dissertation, or doctoral final oral or written exam.

*In order to hold your exam, you must be enrolled in the required hours of thesis, dissertation or doctoral project hours. Doctoral students must be registered for 3 credit hours, and Master’s students must be enrolled in at least one credit hour.

July 18

Deadline to submit a thesis or dissertation to the Graduate School for format review.

*Please see the Thesis and Dissertation Guidelines website for step by step information prior to submitting. You will need to complete forms and submit them with your paper for format review.

July 18

Deadline to turn in the Final Exam Form for Master's non-thesis students and Educational Specialist students.

*You must contact your department advisor and inquire about the departmental procedure for non-thesis exams. If your department requires you to complete this form, do not wait until the deadline to complete this form. Please note that this is the last day to submit the form for the last possible day to hold your exam this semester. When planning to hold your exam, you must submit your exam form at least 10 business days before your exam is held to the Graduate School for processing. The Graduate School will then send out your exam paperwork to your committee. This form needs departmental signatures and takes time to complete before it is turned into the Graduate School. If this form is not submitted on time, you may need to reschedule your exam and your degree may be certified in a later semester.   

July 31

Deadline to hold a non-thesis final oral or written exam.

*In order to hold your exam, you must be enrolled or pay the exam fee.

August 1

Deadline to submit the required paper binding copies of your thesis or dissertation to the Branson Library.

Fall 2014
