Steps to obtain Graduate Faculty status so that a faculty member may serve on a doctoral committee, as an advisor, and/or as a Dean’s Representative:
• Person seeking an appointment submits current vitae or resume to his/her department head, or affiliated department head.
• Department head writes a memo of nomination, requesting either regular graduate faculty status, or status to serve on a specific student’s committee.
• The memo and vitae/resume are routed through the Dean of the College, to the Dean of the Graduate School and the Graduate Council sub-committee on Graduate Faculty.
• If approved, appointments are generally 3-5 years, or are given for a specific student’s committee.
