Instructions for Graduate Applicants

We are pleased that you are interested in Graduate School at New Mexico State University. Graduate programs are competitive and students are selected on the basis of their academic preparation, ability, and program fit. NMSU is a Land Grant, Hispanic and Minority serving institution, we take great pride in serving a diverse population that contributes greatly to Academics, Research and Service.

To access the application applicants must create an account.

In order to check the status of your application as it progresses through our system, please visit our application portal. If you are a new applicant, create an account under First-time User; or, if your application is already in progress, you can directly log-in with your credentials as a returning user. Once you are logged into the application portal, select your desired program, and upload necessary documents to apply. Please follow the instructions there and review the application before submitting . Documents can be also uploaded using appropriate tags under ‘Upload Materials’ later, however, we recommend including and reviewing the required information and  supporting documents before you submit .

Graduate supplemental document(s) and required test scores must be submitted as part of the graduate application for admissions. The supplemental document(s) and test scores are requirements based on your program, academic interest or citizenship. Failure to submit these documents will delay the review of your application for admissions.

Information and documents you will need when applying:

  • Electronic copies of transcripts and if international, certified English translated copy
  • Recommenders contact information and,
  • Required supporting documentation for the academic program supplement

The graduate program you applied to will have full access to all the documents you submitted. Each program has its own review process and timeline. An email notification will be sent when a recommendation is made on your application.
