Transcript Requirements

When applying for graduate admission, upload unofficial transcripts/academic records/credentials to your application.

  • Upload documents for all post-secondary (college/University) institutions you have attended.
  • Please include all incomplete or partial academic records.
  • International credentials must include both the original language document and an English translation.
  • Include original language diplomas if a degree was conferred.

The Graduate Admissions Office reserves the right to request official documents if needed for verification. Do not send official transcripts/academic records/credentials unless we request them.

Please note: all credentials uploaded by an applicant to an application are considered unofficial. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent directly to our office from the issuing institution.


Transcript Evaluations

Graduate School does not require transcript evaluations as part of the application process, but it reserves the right to request an evaluation if there is a concern or question regarding the academic record.

If the GPA calculation performed by the Graduate School does not align with the applicant’s expectation of equivalency, the applicant is welcome to have their academic record evaluated by a third-party evaluator.

  • All evaluations must be performed by a recognized member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
  • Academic records sent for third-party evaluation should request a course-by-course evaluation as well as the degree level achieved.
  • Graduate School reserves the right not to accept evaluations omitting academic marks.
  • NMSU nor the Graduate School accept responsibility for any fees pertaining to third-party evaluations.

Transcript Translations

  • Transcripts that are not in English must be translated.
  • Applicants must obtain official translations from a company or individual recognized as an approved translator in their country or in the US.
  • ISSS highly recommends SpanTran for translation needs, as the required foreign credit evaluation will also be processed in a single step.
  • Additionally, SpanTran will send an official credit evaluation report directly to NMSU at no extra charge.
  • The total cost depends on whether additional services, such as expedited delivery, are requested.
